Dear Dustin,

I know we weren't really friends, but the fact that someone around me could be as desperate and lonely as you must have been breaks my heart. I'll never know why this happened or what you were feeling at the time, but I can't help thinking that if you saw how much people care about you, and what an impact you've had on everyone here, things might have turned out differently. You're in our thoughts, and I mean that.

A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, 2008, in Mt. Scott Funeral Home for Dustin Tran, who died Feb. 16 at age 17.

Dustin Tran was born July 11, 1990, in Arlington, Va. He moved to Hillsboro in 1995 and was a senior at Century High School, where he was senior class president.

Survivors include his parents, Phat and Floria; sisters, Athena and Victoria; and brother, Austin.

i think i've lost my sense of smell.
been sick since last friday with some crazy virus that started out like the flu and ended with a really awful cough and a stuffed up nose that aren't quite gone yet.
my nose is unplugged, but i can't smell anything.
i've been saving up all the perfume samples i find in magazines hoping it'll come back. so far i have Pucci Vivara, Chloe, Burberry Beat and Tommy Hilfiger Dreaming.

but anyway.

tomorrow i need to buy some top coat nail polish and a new sally hansen lip inflation extreme. i had to throw out my old one because it got sand in it on a trip to the beach last summer.
i also need to put my extensions back in.
i took them out last weekend because they were getting kind of saggy and gross, and they were so difficult to get out that i decided to just keep them out. but i really miss my long, beautiful hair! short hair just doesn't do it for me.

i was watching A Knight's Tale earlier today, but it just freaks me out watching movies with dead actors in them. like breakfast at tiffany's. it's one of the most amazing movies ever, but seeing george peppard walking around and talking is WEIRD AS BALLS, since he died like 10 years ago.

we had a guest speaker at school today that pretty much changed my life.
i was already considering joining the peace corps, but this lady totally convinced me.

she was a volunteer in Jordan, then when they evacuated, she transferred to Armenia.
it sounds completely amazing.

i'm considering Jamaica or somewhere in the Caribbean.
i really want to go to Chile or Argentina, but those are inactive.
so is Cuba.

i made out my whole plan: i'mma go a 4-year school (like seattle pacific maybe?), and get a degree in whatever, then join the peace corps in the education field, and then come back and maybe be a teacher.
i always kind of had it in the back of my head that i'd end up being a teacher.
english, probably.
language arts, creative writing, literature, something like that.
